Did anyone get a bad sync just now? I'm experiencing bizarre syntax errors,
but only on ~ramtev-wisbyt.

Some kind of off by one bug seems to be cutting off the last character of
files in clay. If you're experiencing this, please reply; I am attempting to
devise a workaround.

Really, "I just catted a file" is enough, because your +cat and every file
it depends on would be broken if you were affected. :)

I've completely trashed ~ramtev-wisbyt by deleting marks too aggressively, I
think, but anyone else with the issue is welcome to try my (possibly
dangerous) suggestions for a workaround...

I had success getting things to work by making trivial changes *one by one*
to files that were syntax erroring. This required me to have a previous
mount, though. I totally hosed everything when I got ambitious and made a
trivial change to every Hoon file at once via shell script - this is when
mar/hoon started failing, which is a death sentence.

There really needs to be an out-of-band way to tell the system to work out
of an earlier revision.

Paul, what symptoms are you seeing?

BTW, my sync. Curious if others have different checksums.

No checksums here, because "syntax errors" in hoon.hoon.

Extra puzzling is that there was even a sync that touched the files that got
messed up (gens, marks, etc), because the sync was hoon.hoon and
javascript/css for talk/tree.

The closest I've ever seen to this bug is when ++lore changed. If your
vere hadn't been remade, the jets would mismatch and the padding handling
would be wrong. That should be long in the past, though.

Did you push anything to ~zod to trigger this sync?

Yeah - see up the thread. It touched hoon.hoon and some js/css. Worked fine
for everyone but me and Paul.

Everything is working now, but during the reset (and when i made that post)
I got a syntax error in hoon.hoon, then I rebuilt urbit and started back
up, and it looked like this or so:

sync failed from %base on ~pormev-taglyn to %home
please manually merge the desks with
|merge %home ~pormev-taglyn %base

error code: %mate-conflict
[p=~pormev-taglyn q=%base]
[p=~pormev-taglyn q=%home]
[%ud p=14]
%mate
/web/talk/main/css
/web/tree/main/css
/web/talk/main/js
/web/tree/main/js
sync succeeded from %kids on ~doznec to %base

Perhaps the trigger is having had local changes? I know I had some.
