Discussion:
[urbit] Does womb-claim work?

I finally got around to trying to redeem my old planet. I went to
https://womb.urbit.org/ and put in a few possible @p values. Everything
seems to display "Not available" even though my chrome dev tool shows that
the XHR to womb-claim returns "500 Hosed" and a big stacktrace. Am I just
so unoriginal that @p I can think of has already been taken? Or am I
constructing @ps wrong based on the phonetic base syllable list I found
here?

Or is perhaps womb-claim broken right now?

Thanks,

1. Didn't your old ship/ticket work?
2. New planets have to be kids of ~samzod, ~binzod, ~wanzod, or ~marzod.

I don't think unavailable or even invalid ship names should produce 500
Hosed. Does womb need to be reconfigured since the urbit.org planet was
changed? Just a guess ...

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, 500 hosed is correct. I think the urbit.org <http://urbit.org/> planet was actually redeemed from womb earlier today.

Don't know, didn't try. I received an email on 8/16 that said I'd need to
pick a new name.

2. New planets have to be kids of ~samzod, ~binzod, ~wanzod, or ~marzod.

Ah, that makes sense, thanks. (Might be worth making that explicit on the
womb.urbit.org webpage.)

Also, what's the kelvin temperature of the scrambler and the phonetic base?
If they change again, will we get another chance to renumber our planets? I
want to get in early enough to score a memorable planet name, but not so
early that I get shunted onto a different/pseudorandom one later.

The scrambler won't change. Some consider pseudorandom names tacky, but to each his own! :-)
